The Rogers County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Search and Rescue Team is comprised of volunteers.

 

Applicants Must:

Be at least 18 years of age prior to tryout date

Own Your own equine, tack (western), trailer, and towing vehicle

Complete an application and pass a background check.

Must present a valid driver’s license at time of tryouts.

Complete and pass equine and rider evaluation and in-person interview (completed at a later date if called back)

Present a valid and current negative coggins

Expectations:

Attend various events throughout the year such as parades and other community eventsBeing on call for search and rescue call outs day or night

Be willing to attend and complete 4-day Cleet equine certification process

Equines must be kept in work-ready condition. This includes body condition and hooves.

Negative Coggins required at all times.

Vaccines must be kept current.

This includes, but not limited to, Rabies and Vetera Gold or equivalent.

Mounted Trainings and Search and Rescue Trainings are both quarterly. Of the 8 trainings a year, you must attend at least 4.

Attend at least 50% of the monthly meetings.  2nd Tuesday of every month.

Equipment Provided

Equipment provided: Saddle pad, breast collar, and Headstall

Items not provided and will require you to purchase:

Uniform shirts, coats, Black and Straw cowboy hats, and SAR equipment.

Total Estimated Costs $700 (Does not have to be purchased all at one time) If you are commissioned with cleet, additional costs will apply.
