RCSO Youth Cadet Academy

The Rogers County Sheriff’s Office Youth Cadet Academy is a one week program designed to give the student a broad introduction and familiarization to the Rogers County criminal justice system and process.  

Students will meet with individuals from every area of the criminal justice system, from deputies, dispatchers, detention officers, prosecutors and judges.

The bulk of the students education and the academy will be through practical exercises and one on one interactions with officers and emergency personnel.  Some activities include working a mock crime scene after a day with the Rogers County Investigations Division, observing a K9 narcotics detection and a K9 bite demonstration, time on our in house firearms simulator and distracted/drunk driving simulators, a firearm safety orientation and the opportunity to fire simmunition pistols with paint rounds at targets, and flying RCSO drones.

In addition, students will get the opportunity to tour the Rogers County Jail, Rogers County Courthouse, Rogers County Sheriff’s Office and Rogers County E911 Center.

TIME: 9 AM to 4 PM Daily

WHERE: Amos G Ward Detention Facility ~ 201 S Cherokee Ave. Claremore, OK 74017

COST: Free

MEALS: Will be catered daily, breakfast and lunch.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be a student in a Rogers County School

2. Students entering the 9th grade in Fall of 2024, 10th, 11th and 12 or graduating in Spring of 2024 are eligible to apply.

3. Parent or Guardian Approval and attend pre academy meeting, will be held the week prior.

4. Letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, coach, school resource officer or pastor.
